Book Club

Recently multiple people have asked me for recommendations on books about chocolate, so I've decided to start the Chocolate Uplift Book Club!

Joining is simple, and free, and you can participate from anywhere in the world:

1. Read the book. (While eating chocolate, if you wish!)

2. Discuss the book in the comments of the mini video I'll post about the book on the Chocolate Uplift YouTube channel - or start your own in-person or online discussion group with friends.

3. Keep eating real chocolate!

Our first book is Bread, Wine, Chocolate: The Slow Loss of Foods We Love, by Simran Sethi.

Buy the book here!

From Amazon:

"Award-winning journalist Simran Sethi explores the history and cultural importance of our most beloved tastes, paying homage to the ingredients that give us daily pleasure, while providing a thoughtful wake-up call to the homogenization that is threatening the diversity of our food supply."

I chose this book as our first selection because I met the author a few years ago on the Camino Verde cacao farm in Ecuador while she was working on the book, and have come to know her not only as a thoughtful and engaging writer but also as a big-hearted and kind friend.

Click for book endorsements (for example, named one of the best food books of 2016 by Smithsonian), or the author's podcast, or to purchase the book through our Book Club link!

Simran has awesomely offered to join our book club via video or with Q&A, so join the Chocolate Uplift Book Club, and stay tuned!

Thank you!

Your friend in chocolate,

Valerie
